THE HAGUE 15 August 2019 — Ambassador to the Netherlands Jaime Victor B. Ledda, current Chair of the ASEAN Committee in The Hague (ACTH), hosted the 52nd ASEAN Day Celebration on 08 August 2019, with the traditional flag raising, community singing of the “ASEAN Way”, a cake-cutting ceremony and sharing of cultural performances.

In his remarks, Ambassador Ledda highlighted the enduring accomplishments of ASEAN and its shared vision of a people-centered and a people-oriented ASEAN Community. 

He also conveyed his appreciation to the ACTH Embassies of Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and Vietnam, for their partnership, hard work and dedication in the promotion of ASEAN solidarity, culture, and trade, and tourism in the Netherlands.

The Ambassador also welcomed the presence of Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs' Asia and Oceania Department officer-in-charge Mark Versteden, whose office and specifically handles ASEAN Political matters.   

The ASEAN Day celebration was a concerted effort toward a meaningful and festive commemoration event. The ACTH brought their country’s signature cuisine, complemented by sweet delicacies provided by the ASEAN Ladies Circle.

The celebration was both an official and a family event that brought together more than a hundred officials of the ACTH Embassies and their families. END
