MANADO 09 September 2019 — Consul General to Manado Oscar Orcine welcomed members of the Garuda Indonesia Manado Office at the Philippine Consulate General in Manado on 16 August 2019 to discuss cooperation on connecting Davao with the Indonesian city of Manado.

Garuda Indonesia disclosed that they are planning to undertake twice weekly flights and that the inaugural flight is slated to take place in the last week of September.

The air connectivity between Manado and Davao is expected to spur tourist arrivals in Mindanao and facilitate business-to-business engagements, thereby promoting maritime trade between Davao and the Indonesian port city of Bitung.

Both sides remain optimistic that in the years to come, new economic and trade opportunities will emerge that will benefit both the Philippines and Indonesia.

This development is a realization of the commitment made by Ambassador to Indonesia Lee Hiong T. Wee and Indonesian Ambassador to the Philippines Sinyo Harry Sarundajang in their statement signed in September 2018 to promote the reestablishment of the air route.

The Garuda Indonesia team was headed by General Manager Mac Fee Kindangen who came with Sales and Marketing Manager Agny Gallus Pratama, Sales Executive Christa Rompas, and Marketing Officer Ningsih Sutedja. END
