PH Ambassador Meets with Filipino Community in Victoria

CANBERRA 10 September 2019 – Ambassador to Australia Ma. Hellen B. De La Vega met with the Filipino community leaders and students in Victoria during her Official Visit to the said south-eastern state on 19 to 21 August 2019.

On 19 August 2019, Ambassador De La Vega held her first town hall meeting with the Filipino community leaders in Victoria where she was welcomed by Mayor Martin Zakharov of the City of Maribyrnong. She encouraged the Filipino leaders to raise the profile of the community and work together in marking the 75th Anniversary of Philippines-Australia relations in 2021.

Meanwhile, the Ambassador also met with the Filipino Australian Student Council of Victoria (FASTCO) on 22 August 2019 and discussed the International Research Forum on the Philippines on 11-12 November 2019, and FASTCO’s support for newly arrived Filipino students in Victoria. END
