NAIROBI 12 September 2019 — The Philippine Embassy in Nairobi, led by Ambassador to Kenya Alex G. Chua, attended the screening of award-winning black comedy film “Heart Attack” from Thailand, which opened the 2019 ASEAN Film Festival on 27 August 2019 at the Alliance Francaise de Nairobi.
Described as “not quite a rom-com with a bit of body horror”, the film was big winner at Thailand’s 2016 National Film Awards.
Ambassador Chua welcomed the Thai film as the first of the four film screenings from member countries of the ASEAN Nairobi Committee.
“We appreciate events such as these where we can support our ASEAN brothers and promote the different ASEAN cultures, which in this case is film,” Ambassador Chua said.
The ASEAN Film Festival was one of the ASEAN Nairobi Committee initiatives for 2019 under the chairmanship of the Philippines. It aimed to highlight the dynamic film industry of each ASEAN Country against the backdrop of a vibrant relations, and cooperation and camaraderie of the ASEAN community in Nairobi. END
