PH Embassy Offers Sunday Consular Services to Filipinos in Brunei

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN 20 August 2019 — The Philippine Embassy in Brunei held its first Sunday Consular Service on 11 August 2019, enabling Filipinos in Brunei to avail of consular services on a non-working day.

Aside from the Consular and Assistance-to-Nationals Sections, the Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO), Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), Social Security System (SSS) and Pag-IBIG were also open to extend their various services to the transacting public.

A total of 72 Filipinos, majority of whom came from the other districts of Brunei, such as Kuala Belait and Temburong, were served during the maiden offering of the Sunday Consular Service.

“Maraming salamat po sa Embahada sa pagbubukas nila ng Linggo para sa aming mga Overseas Filipino Workers (Thank you so much to the Embassy for opening on Sunday for us OFWs),” Emeliano B. Castillo, Jr., a heavy equipment operator from Western Samar, said.

“Sana kapag mag open ulit kapag Sunday ipakalat sa lahat ng mga Pinoy dito sa Brunei. Para kahit Sunday puede po magpunta. Di lahat nakakalabas pag weekdays. Thank you po (Hopefully when it opens again on Sunday, the Filipinos here in Brunei will be informed, so that even on Sunday we can go. Not everyone gets out on weekdays. Thank you),” another OFW commented.

The general feedback received was positive and encouraging, with many expressing appreciation for the introduction of the Sunday Consular Service, which the Embassy intends to continue on a monthly basis. END
