MACAU 17 September 2019 — Preparation for the Migrant Workers Day Celebration took the spotlight in the Filipino Community Leaders Meeting held by the Philippine Consulate General in Macau on 29 August 2019.
The Migrant Workers Day Celebration is planned for 29 September 2019 at the Sofitel Hotel, and among the plans for the celebration are the Reintegration Information Caravan by National Reintegration Center for OFWs (NRCO), and the Anti-Illegal Recruitment Campaign by the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA).
The Consulate General also informed the community about the 2020 Presidential Awards for Filipino Individuals and Organizations Overseas and the Diskubre Tour for Young Filipinos, which are scheduled on 03 to 13 January 2020 in the Bicol Region.
Filipino basketball player and now coach Jimmy Alapag also appeared in the meeting to promote and invite participants to the East Asia Super League 2019 on 17 to 22 September 2019 at the Tap Seac Multisport Pavilion.
The East Asia Super League is an offseason competition platform for Asian basketball clubs, and three Philippine Basketball Association teams—San Miguel Beermen, TNT Katropa and Blackwater Elite—are slated to play this year.
Also present in the Leaders’ Meeting was Social Welfare Attaché Elizabeth Dy, who raised the issue of unwanted pregnancies and how the government provides programs and services for Filipinos in such situation.
