PH Consulate General in Toronto Participates in the Annual ANCOP Walk

TORONTO 18 September 2019 – The Philippine Consulate General in Toronto, led by Acting Head of Post Bernadette Therese C. Fernandez, took part in the 2019 ANCOP Walk at the David Pecaut Square, King Street West in Downtown Toronto on 18 August 2019.

With the theme: “Light to the World. Be an Equalizer in a World Gripped by Poverty” the walk had 4,974 registered walkers from all over Canada, 1,138 of whom are from Toronto. The walk started at the David Pecaut Square then, took the participants along parts of King Street West, University Avenue, College Street, Bay Street, Wellington Street West before walking back to the Square.

ANCOP International Canada, Inc. (ANCOP Canada) is a registered Canadian charitable organization dedicated to uplifting the lives of poor people in many underdeveloped countries. ANCOP, which stands for “Answering the Cry of the Poor”, currently funds 2,885 scholars in the Philippines and is committed to increase its scholars as they build their support and resource base. 

ANCOP Walk is the organization’s annual signature fundraising event currently being held in 20 locations across Canada. Equally important is its capacity to be a venue for ANCOP Canada to tell its story and its vision and mission to transform the lives of the poor through child education, community development, livelihood training, values formation, and humanitarian relief programs.

The Consulate General joins in advancing ANCOP’s goal to restore dignity and hope to the poor by building self-reliant and self-sustaining individuals and communities.  END
