Embassy Deputy Chief of Mission Robert Ferrer (center) was joined by Philippine Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York Minister Angela Ponce (left).  Also present from civil society was Amina Rasul–Bernardo (right), peace advocate and countering violent extremism expert.

The Philippines pushed for a maritime component for the innovative Advance Passenger Information/Passenger Name Record (API/PNR) of the UN Countering Terrorist Travel (UN-CTT) Programme.

The conference aimed to bring together experts and practitioners at interdicting the creative ways terrorists have been crossing borders through air travel, and come up with more coordinated action through multilateralism in addressing gaps that allow foreign terrorist fighters to enter into, through and out of, UN member states’ territories.
