LOS ANGELES 19 Septembr 2019 — Philippine Consulate General to Los Angeles Consul Ambrosio Brian F. Enciso III represented Consul General to Los Angeles Adelio Angelito S. Cruz as the inspirational speaker for the Filipiniana Affair and Gala on 24 August 2019 at the Gold Coast Hotel in Las Vegas.

In his remarks, Consul Enciso affirmed his solidarity with the organization, he being of Ilocano heritage himself, urged the organization to always remain true to the vision of the group’s founders, while at the same time being creative and dynamic enough to remain relevant in the coming decades and changing times.

Consul Enciso also echoed Consul General Cruz’ maxim for Filipino-American associations to involve the youth in their programs and activities to instill in them a deep and genuine love for the group and for the Philippines.

The Filipinina Gala and Affair is now on its 17th year, and has become one of the most anticipated social events of the Filipino-American community in the state. About 200 members of the local Filipino-American community attended the gala, which was organized and hosted by the Ilocano-American Association of Nevada (IAAN).

The formal ball serves as IAAN’s main fund-raising vehicle for the benefit of its charitable projects.  The night was capped with an award for the best dressed lady and gentlemen of the evening, given to those who have donned the most impressive traditional Filipino dress.

Founded in 1993, the 36-year-old association continues to pursue its mission to award scholarships to deserving high school graduates, promote Ilocano culture in the community, and develop and maintain strong relationships with other non-profit organizations. END
