Indonesian Participants of Familiarization Tour Explore Cebu

CEBU 20 September 2019 — As part of their familiarization tour of the Philippines, representatives of Indonesian companies with incentive programs, started their journey of the Visayas region in Cebu from 02 to 06 September 2019.

The familiarization tour is arranged by the Philippine Embassy in Jakarta, through the efforts of Ambassador to Indonesia Leehiong T. Wee, in cooperation with the Department of Tourism (DOT), and airline partner Cebu Pacific.

The tour was conducted to showcase the Philippines as a new destination for Indonesian companies’ incentive programs, and to give their sales agents a first-hand experience of the Philippines as a safe and secure destination.

The guests toured Profoods Mango Factory, the biggest producer of dried mangoes in Cebu, as well as a processor of pineapples, coconuts, and other fruits for export to over 50 countries around the world.

They also visited Cebu’s Chocolate Queen Raquel Choa, who shared with them the legend of Maria Cacao, as well as her work with farmers in Sintang, West Kalimantan in Indonesia, where she is advocating the planting of cacao in order to address the world’s demand for chocolate. During the visit, they sampled hot chocolate, truffles, chocolate-covered mangoes, and cacao nibs.

The guests visited the Heritage Monument of Cebu. Their exploration of the Casa Gorordo Museum allowed them a glimpse into the elite lives of Cebu of the 18th century.

Participants on this familiarization tour included PT Darya Varia Laboratoria Tbk (pharmaceutical), PT Andalan Usaha Cemerlang (wholesaler agency), PT Asuransi Jiwa Sinarmas MSIG (bank insurance), Foresight Consulting, Indonesian Shopping Centres Management Association, and Arnon and Jordan Bakery. Social media influencers and media representatives also joined the tour.

The familiarization tour aimed to assist the DOT in reaching their target of 100,000 tourist arrivals from Indonesia. END
