PH Embassy in Yangon Hosts 6th Myanmar-ASEAN Women's Friendship Association Meeting

YANGON 20 September 2019 – The Philippine Embassy in Yangon hosted the 6th Meeting of the Myanmar-ASEAN Women's Friendship Association (MAWFA) at Meliã Yangon Hotel on 30 August 2019.
Madame Elsa A. Kapunan, spouse of Philippine Ambassador to Myanmar Eduardo E. Kapunan, Jr., emphasized in her welcome remarks that the MAWFA serves not only as a venue to strengthen friendship among ASEAN missions but to fortify the ASEAN presence in Myanmar.
The meeting focused on discussing the MAWFA Fundraising and Charity Bazaar where women entrepreneurs from different countries will be able to showcase their products. Proceeds from entrance and lucky draw ticket sales will be given to Safe House, an organization focused on caring for single mothers and their infants, as well as to Sharing Love Charity, an organization providing education for street children.
In order to share Filipino culture, the Embassy arranged a dance workshop after the meeting. Filipino dance instructor Ian Julius Alcaraz gave a brief background on the tinikling and taught the attendees with the basic dance steps.
A lunch buffet of Filipino cuisine was served by Melia Hotel and Philippine souvenirs were distributed to cap the meeting. END
