 PH Embassy in Manama, FilCom Holds Bowling Tourney

MANAMA 20 September 2019 – The Philippine Embassy in Manama, in cooperation with the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), Home Development Mutual Fund, and Social Security System, held the fifth edition of the Philippine Ambassador’s Cup Inter-FilCom Bowling Tournament at Funland Bowling Center on 30 August 2019.

The annual tournament is part of the Embassy’s health and wellness program for Filipinos under its jurisdiction.

More than 300 players, fans, and sponsors graced the event, which was participated by a record number of 36 teams of five members each, with one reserve player. The teams are composed of Embassy officers and staff and members of the various Filipino organizations in Bahrain.

In his welcome address, Ambassador to Bahrain Alfonso A. Ver expressed his delight over the outpouring support, not just of the sponsors, but also of the Filipino organizations in Bahrain, headed by the umbrella organization, the Filipino Club Bahrain (FCB). He also emphasized the importance of such friendly competition which promotes camaraderie, as well as physical health and wellness among the participants.

The Philippine Institute of Civil Engineers (PICE) bagged the championship trophy after garnering the highest total of pinfalls in the final round.

The Embassy, along with the Philippine Overseas Labor Office, also gave recognition during the opening ceremony to groups and individuals who ensured the success of the recently concluded Special Professional Licensure Examination (SPLE) in Bahrain. END
