PH Participates in Int’l Conference on Illicit Arms Trafficking

MOSCOW 25 September 2019 — Philippine Special Envoy on Transnational Crime Bruce S. Concepcion attend the Second International Conference on Countering Illicit Arms Trafficking in the Context of Fighting International Terrorism on 05-06 September 2019 in Moscow.

Special Envoy Concepcion was accompanied by Philippine Embassy in Moscow Third Secretary and Vice Consul and Political Section head, Anna Guerra. They joined senior government officials, experts, journalists, academics, and representatives from counter-terrorism units of key international organizations–the United Nations, Shanghai Cooperation Organization, Commonwealth of Independent States,

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Oleg Syromolotov delivered the welcome message of Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov during the opening ceremony.

The two-day conference focused on discussions on current developments, and ways to consolidate and increase the effectiveness of multilateral efforts to prevent material and financial support for terrorism in a broad sense, and particularly to curb the supply of weapons and military equipment to terrorist groups.

Ambassador to Russia Carlos D. Sorreta and Embassy Defense and Armed Forces Attaché Colonel Dennis Pastor met with Special Envoy Concepcion and had discussions on the Philippines’ own counter-terrorism efforts, among other matters. END
