Ambassador to Egypt Calls on Minister of State for Emigration, Egyptian Expatriates Affairs

CAIRO 27 September 2019 — Ambassador to Egypt Sulpicio M. Confiado called on Minister of State for Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs Ambassador Nabila Makram on 03 September 2019.

Ambassador Makram expressed admiration for the Philippine Government’s organized and institutionalized programs for the promotion and protection of the rights and welfare of Filipino nationals overseas.

The Minister, who once served as Egypt’s Deputy Consul General in Dubai, said that Egypt considers the Philippines as a model in formulating its strategies and programs for its own 14 million nationals overseas, mostly in the Gulf States.

She requested the Embassy for a more detailed briefing on the Philippine experience and approach towards expatriate protection and assistance to nationals. The briefing will be conducted by the Embassy on 29 September 2019 at the Ministry’s offices. END
