AFP Senior Officers, Spouses Visit Vietnam on Exchange Program

PHOTO: A delegation of 21 Armed Forces of the Philippines’ (AFP) senior officers and their spouses, led by Brigadier General Arwel Oropesa, participated in the Seventh Philippines-Vietnam Senior Officers Exchange Visit Program on 16-24 September 2019 in Hanoi, Halong Bay, Hue, and Ho Chi Minh.

The AFP delegation expressed appreciation to the Philippine Embassy in Hanoi for meeting them at the start of their visit and briefed them on Vietnam’s politics, economy and current issues in the Phillippine-Vietnam defense cooperation. Embassy Defense and Armed Forces Attaché Colonel Arlino Sendaydiego assisted the delegation.

In June 2018, the Philippine government hosted the Sixth Philippine-Vietnam Senior Officers Exchange Visit Program, with 21 Vietnam People’s Armed Forces’ senior officers and spouses who toured Manila, Tagaytay and Baguio.

Embassy Chargé d’ Affaires, a.i. Paul Vincent Uy gave assurances of the Embassy’s continued cooperation with the Armed Forces of the Philippines in pursuit of the “Vietnam-Philippines Plan of Action for Implementation of the Strategic Partnership for 2019-2024.”  Vietnam is one of only three countries with which the Philippines has a “strategic partnership.” (Hong Kong PCG)
