PH Consulate General’s Spouse Elected Anew as League of San Francisco Consular Corps President

SAN FRANCISCO 03 October 2019 – For an unprecedented third term, Madame Ann Mariza Sanchez-Bensurto, spouse of Consul General to San Francisco Henry S. Bensurto Jr.,  was elected President of the League of San Francisco Consular Corps (LSFCC).

The election was held on 11 September 2019 during the LSFCC’s Welcome Tea Party at the official residence of Madame Sheila Ortona, spouse of the Italian Consul General to San Francisco Lorenzo Ortona.

Madame Bensurto began her welcome remarks with a moment of silence in commemoration of the 18th anniversary of the 9/11 terror attacks in the United States. She then welcomed back members of the group, who came from their summer break and recapped LSFCC’s cultural and socio-civic activities in 2018.

Consul General Ortona welcomed LSFCC members to his residence and underscored the importance of working and living in an environment where people can benefit from the values of freedom and democratic ideals.

The program concluded with a three-minute video presentation by Madame Bensurto that highlighted LSFCC’s previous engagements.

The LSFCC is a non-profit organization that provides support to diplomats, particularly their spouses and partners, who are mostly involved in settling the family into San Francisco. With the help of the U.S. Support Group, consisting of residents of San Francisco, the State Department’s Office of Foreign Missions, and the San Francisco City Hall Protocol Office, LSFCC members can interface with stakeholders and explore the Bay Area through guided familiarization tours, and create friendships among the Consular Corps.
