7-Year-Old Filipina Joins Regional Winners of Future Aircraft Design Competition

OTTAWA 04 October 2019 — A seven-year-old Filipina is selected as one of the regional winners in an international competition launched by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) on design of future aircraft.
Helene Margaret Bariso Elias is one of the select few who received an award from ICAO Secretary General Fang Liu and ICAO Council President Olumiyiwa Benard Aliu at the awarding ceremonies held in Montreal during the ICAO Innovation Fair on 22 September 2019. Ms. Elias was accompanied by her parents when she received her award.
Ambassador to Canada Petronila P. Garcia sent a letter in early September informing Ms. Elias about her achievement ahead of the public announcement made by ICAO. Ambassador Garcia thanked Ms. Elias for making the Philippines proud of her accomplishment at such a young age. END
