 PH Ambassador Calls on Maldivian Officials

Ambassador to Bangladesh and Non-Resident Ambassador to Maldives Vicente Vivencio T. Bandillo (fourth from left), met with the officials of the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Community Empowerment, led by Minister Ahmed Mahloof, to discuss ways of bringing the Philippines and Maldives together in the field of sports on 12 September 2019.

Both sides are looking forward to the upcoming football game between the Philippine and Maldivian national teams in November 2019 and expressed readiness to conclude the Memorandum of Understanding on Sports Cooperation, which will set up a framework for collaboration for the two countries and facilitate people-to-people exchanges, sharing of best practices and experiences, and the convening of joint sporting events. Ambassador to Bangladesh and Non-Resident Ambassador to Maldives Vicente Vivencio T. Bandillo (left, third row) met with the officials of the Maldives’ Labour Relations Authority (LRA) on 12 September 2019 to urge the LRA to handle Filipino cases with sense of urgency and special attention due to the physical and psychological toll Filipino workers experience when they are suddenly without income. Social protection in a foreign country was also discussed. Both sides agreed on closer coordination, and to explore areas of cooperation, particularly on trainings and exchanges.

Bandillo (left) met with the officials of the Ministry of Arts, Culture and Heritage, led by Minister Yumna Maumoon (right), to explore areas of cooperation in preserving our maritime heritage on 12 September 2019. Both sides agreed that a Memorandum of Understanding on Cultural Cooperation is needed.
