PH Consulate General in Chicago Joins Barangay Club of Indiana PH Fiesta Celebration
CHICAGO 01 October 2019 —Consul General to Chicago Gina A. Jamoralin graced the Barangay Club of Indiana (BCI) Philippine Fiesta Celebration at St. Michael’s Gym in Indianapolis, Indiana on 07 September 2019.
Consul General Jamoralin delivered an inspirational message encouraging the Filipino-American youth to join the upcoming Youth Leaders in Diaspora (YouLeaD) Immersion Program II, the Consulate General’s joint project with the Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO) that helps young Filipino-American leaders discover their roots and embrace their Filipino heritage. In her speech, Consul General Jamoralin commended the BCI for keeping the Filipino traditions alive by performing the slow and fast version of the tinikling dance.
The highlight of the event was the search for Miss and Mrs. BCI 2019. The winner of the Miss BCI 2019 will compete at the International Festival Queen 2019 on 07 to 09 November 2019, which will be followed by Santa Kruzan and the Procession of Our Lady of Fatima which will be brought in from Portugal.
The fiesta celebration was also participated in by Filipino delicacies like pansit, adobo, kaldereta, dinuguan, eggrolls, barbeque, halo-halo. There were also Filipino handicrafts like parol (lanterns) and a sorbetero cart for ice cream. END
