New PH Envoy Presents Credentials to Danish Queen

COPENHAGEN 10 October 2019 — Ambassador to Denmark Leo M. Herrera-Lim presented his credentials as the country's envoy to Her Majesty, Queen Margrethe II, in a ceremony held on 27 September 2019 at the Fredensborg Palace.
The presentation of credentials marks the official accreditation of Ambassador Herrera-Lim as the first resident Ambassador Denmark, including the territories of the Faroe Islands and Greenland.
After the customary presentation of his letter of credence, Ambassador Herrera-Lim and Queen Margrethe II expressed their common commitment to strengthen the relations of the two countries further. Ambassador Herrera-Lim conveyed the personal greetings of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte. The Queen likewise extended her best wishes to the President.
Ambassador Herrera-Lim and Queen Margrethe II discussed the good state of the bilateral relations between the Philippines and the Kingdom of Denmark, as well as other key issues of mutual interests.
The Ambassador highlighted the opening of the first diplomatic mission in Denmark as an unmistakable signal of the Philippines’ desire to further expand bilateral relations, particularly in the areas of trade and investment, people-to-people interaction and cultural cooperation, as well as to promote the welfare of the growing number of Filipinos in Denmark. He expressed hope to build deeper relations with Denmark as both countries approach the celebration of 75 years of diplomatic relations.
“This is an amazing day for Philippine-Danish relations and me personally,” Ambassador Herrera-Lim remarked immediately after the ceremony.
The Ambassador was among the five Ambassadors who presented their credentials to Queen Margrethe II. The others were the envoys of South Korea, Iraq, Germany, and Iceland.
Ambassador Herrera-Lim is a career diplomat with over 30 years of experience. He has been a delegate to the United Nations, World Trade Organization, World Bank, Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation, and other bilateral/multilateral convention/meetings. Before being appointed as Ambassador to Denmark, he also served as Chair to the ASEAN Inter-governmental Commission on Human Rights. His previous postings include Washington, D.C., Chicago, Los Angeles, and London.
Diplomatic relations between the Philippines and Denmark were established on 28 September 1946. END
