31 March 2014- The Philippine Embassy on Wings team had its first consular outreach for this year in Maldives on March 21 and in Sri Lanka from March 22 to 23, which were held at the offices of the Philippine Honorary Consuls in the respective countries.
The team, composed of Consul General Mohd. Noordin Pendosina N. Lomondot, and Embassy Attachés Maria Victoria Tambag, Raquel de Austria and Joany Margallo, processed a total of 118 applications for e-Passport and one application for passport validity extension.
Consul General Lomondot also took the opportunity of the trip to visit Filipino detainees accused of drug trafficking in Maldives and Sri Lanka.
The team expressed its great appreciation for the warm welcome and assistance of Philippine Honorary Consul General William Perera of Sri Lanka and his staff, Mr. Abdullah Adam of the Office of the Philippine Honorary Consul in Maldives, and members of the Filipino community in Maldives Judith Mallari and Philip Escobar.
The team also took the pleasure of meeting Filipino community leaders, Ms. Virginia Perera of the Philippine Ladies Association in Sri Lanka (PLA) and Ms. Veronica Sto. Domingo Funtanares of the Association of Filipinos in Sri Lanka (AFSRIL) on the last day of the consular mission. PLA and AFSRIL are two of the well-established Filipino organizations in Sri Lanka that actively support the programs and projects of the office of the Philippine Honorary Consul in the country. END
