31 March 2014 - The Philippine Consulate General in New York had a successful start to its consular outreach program for 2014 in Jersey City, New Jersey on March 8.
A consular team, headed by Deputy Consul General Zaldy Patron, was able to provide 84 consular services for passport, dual citizenship and legalization of documents to Filipino-American citizens who came to St. Mary’s Church, venue of the outreach, from 10 am to 3 pm.
Members of the Catholic Action of Mary (CAM) of Jersey City, co-sponsor of the consular outreach, were also around to assist the applicants. A representative of the Own the Dream Coalition based in Jersey City came to speak about the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA).
Consul General Mario De Leon, Jr. expressed appreciation to CAM for co-hosting the successful consular outreach. “I thank CAM for helping us with our first consular outreach for 2014. This year, we plan to conduct 16 more consular outreach services that will take us as far as Maine and New Hampshire, and Pittsburg and Eerie in Pennsylvania. I encourage the Filipino-Americans to take advantage of this program, which is held on weekends. We want to be able to serve as many Filipino Americans as possible during each outreach.”
