31 March 2014 -  First, Boston; then, New York. The Philippines continues its aggressive tourism promotion campaign to attract more tourists from the U.S. Northeast to visit the Philippines.

Fresh from participating in the Boston Globe Travel Show from February 7 to 9, officials of the Philippine Consulate General and the Department of Tourism in New York were in the Jacob Javits Convention Center in New York City from February 28 to March 2 to showcase the country’s popular tourism slogan, “It’s More Fun in the Philippines,” at the 11th annual New York Times Travel Show.

The travel show is considered to be the largest consumer and trade travel event of its kind in the U.S. It attracts over 500 international tourism/travel exhibitors focusing on travel destinations, packages and special offers. Travel seminars, cultural performances, children’s activities, and on-the-spot booking trip arrangements are also offered at the event, which is sponsored by the New York Times Company.

This year, the Philippine booth highlighted the country’s tourism slogan “It’s More Fun in the Philippines.” The booth shows pictures of the Philippines’ travel destinations with catchy and witty phrases that have made the slogan popular, especially on social media.

Travel brochures, newsletters and booklets, and tour package information materials were handed out to the guests. Flyers for the 9th Ambassadors, Consuls General and Tourism Directors Tour to the Philippines (ACGTDT) to be held from July 28 to August 3, 2014 were also distributed.

Travel operators Mango Tours, Pacific Holidays Innovative Tours and SITA World Tours also offered various travel packages to guests going to the Philippine Booth.

Consul General Mario De Leon and his wife, Eleanor De Leon, led the Philippine officials manning the Philippine Booth. “The Philippines has a lot of beautiful travel destinations to offer to the U.S. tourists. I am optimistic that our yearly participation in the major travel shows in our area will redound to more travelers choosing to go to the Philippines,” Consul General De Leon remarked. END
