PH Embassy in Ottawa Promotes Human Trafficking Awareness in Saskatchewan

During the breakfast meeting with the newly-elected officials of the association led by Architect Pepito Escanlar (second from right), Deputy Chief of Mission Fernandez enjoined the community leaders to be vigilant in monitoring cases of illegal recruitment and human trafficking affecting Filipinos in the province.
Deputy Chief of Mission Fernandez shared with them information on the basic elements of illegal recruitment and human trafficking, while noting the limitations of Canadian legislation regarding human trafficking.
There are approximately 33,600 Filipinos and Canadian of Filipino heritage in the province of Saskatchewan, most of whom reside in the cities of Regina and Saskatoon.
