PH Consulate General in Jeddah Brings Consular Services to Asir Region

JEDDAH 18 October 2019 — As part of its mandate to deliver consular services to Filipinos under its jurisdiction, the Philippine Consulate General in Jeddah rendered Consular Mobile Services (CMS) for Filipinos in the Asir region of Saudi Arabia from 26 to 28 September 2019.
The Consular Team successfully processed close to 900 passport applications and numerous requests for travel document and legalization of documents.
Representatives from the Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO), Pag-IBIG, Social Security System (SSS), and the Office of the Social Welfare Attaché (SWAT) also joined the consular mission to offer their respective services. A separate team from the Consulate’s Assistance-to-Nationals Section was also present to reply to queries and requests for assistance from distressed overseas Filipino workers.
With the assistance of local Filipino community volunteers led by Mr. Virgilio Crisostomo, the Consular Team successfully conducted the second CMS in the region for this year.
The CMS was held at Abha Palace Hotel in the city of Abha, the capital of the Asir region which is located in the southwest of Saudi Arabia. It is estimated that 60,000 Overseas Filipino Workers are located in the region based on 2018 figures released by the Saudi Ministry of Interior. END
