SAN FRANCISCO 11 October 2019 — Beam & Go, represented by founders Jonathan Chua and Albert Go, signed the Spark*Connect*Empower (SCE) Partnership Agreement with the Consulate General in San Francisco represented by Deputy Consul General Raquel R. Solano on 19 September 2019.

Beam & Go is a Filipino e-commerce company that aims to empower Overseas Filipinos (OFs) by giving them greater control over their finances, in terms of how their remittances to their families are to be spent.  Beam & Go provides an online facility for OFs to shop for their family’s needs in the Philippines, including household goods such as food, medicine, supplies, mobile load, and other products.  Instead of OFs sending cash-based remittances which is susceptible to mismanagement, Beam & Go allows OFs to shop electronically for vouchers which are sent to ther families in the Philippines, which they may present to participating outlets when they claim or receive their goods.  Through the use of security features, the delivery of goods/services to the intended beneficiaries is assured.

Beam & Go is the latest company to have committed to initiating activities that will spark among Filipino Americans love for their Filipino heritage and culture, connect them with like-minded networks and individuals and empower them to take action for the betterment of the country.

Spark*Connect*Empower is a movement that the Consulate initiated in 2017 with the realization that with recent trends and shifts in demography, indicating that millennials and Gen-Zs are outnumbering first generation Filipinos, there is a possibility that Filipino identity, culture and heritage among Filipino-Americans in the United States could be permanently lost.  The SCE Movement aims to inspire more Filipino-Americans, especially the younger generations, to be the new vanguards of Filipino culture and heritage and become more empowered.

During the signing ceremony, Deputy Consul General Solano thanked Beam & Go for their support towards the realization of the objectives of the SCE movement: “We thank Beam & Go for their commitment in advocating the ideals of the SCE movement.  It is our hope that through Beam & Go’s corporate advocacies, more Filipino-Americans are empowered to provide tangible forms of assistance to their families and communities in the Philippines.” END
