In his welcome remarks, Ambassador to Netherlands Jaime Victor B. Ledda, accompanied by the Embassy economic and consular sections, indicated the growing interest among Dutch travelers on the country’s unique tourism destinations, citing the country’s participation in the annual Vakantiebeurs, one of the major travel fairs in Europe.
Over 30 Dutch and Belgian tour and travel agencies and operators attended the briefing organized by Philippine Tourism Director Meggie Flores on Philippine thrusts in Europe, emphasizing that the Netherlands is the Philippines’ fifth-largest tourism market out of Europe, with 37,047 tourists visiting in 2018. Visitor arrivals from the Netherlands have grown at an average of ten percent over the past five years. Six Philippine travel agencies and resort operators were specially flown in by PTO-Frankfurt’s major partner, Cathay Pacific for this event’s B2B that aimed to facilitate travel deals and tour packages to Palawan, Cebu, Bohol, Banaue, and Manila, in particular.
