CHICAGO 11 October 2019 – The Consulate General in Chicago, together with the members of the Chicago Consular Corps, attended the 41st anniversary of Peace Day in Chicago on 23 September 2019 at Daley Plaza, downtown Chicago.

Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot delivered her remarks during the event urging everyone β€œto make peace a priority everywhere, every day.”

Consul General Gina A. Jamoralin, accompanied by Philippine Consulate staff, carried and proudly waved the Philippine flag on stage during a parade of flags representing all the United Nations (UN) member countries.

The event was organized by the Peace School, an Illinois non-profit organization, and Chicago Build the Peace Committee.

Peace Day in Chicago has been commemorated since 07 September 1978 - three years before the establishment of the International Day of Peace by the United Nations in 1981. END
