TOKYO 11 October 2019 – The Philippine Embassy in Tokyo with the support of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN)-Japan Center, and in cooperation with the offices of the Agriculture Attaché and Tourism Attaché, promoted Philippine tourism, crafts, and fruit products during the 2019 Global Festa on 28-29 September at the Odaiba Center Promenade in Tokyo.

Global Festa Japan’s biggest international cooperation fair, with more than 200 participating organizations, including embassies, particularly recipients of Japanese Official Development Assistance (ODA), UN bodies, international non-governmental organizations (NGOs), Japanese non-profit organizations (NPO), and other organizations that foster international development and cooperation.

The Embassy showcased handcrafted products that used Philippine indigenous materials. Fruit products, including saging na saba, pineapples, papaya, and puso ng saging were featured, much to the delight of visitors of the Philippine booth. Interactive games and photo opportunities with iconic Philippine scenes as a backdrop were also offered to boost the Philippine tourism promotion.

Under the theme, “Cheer up the world, your action will change the world,” the Festa aimed to showcase the importance of international cooperation initiatives, including ODA and cooperation between governments and NGOs, and to promote a deeper understanding of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).

The 2019 Global Festa is co-organized by the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA), Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), and Japan NGO for International Cooperation (JANIC). END
