LOS ANGELES 14 October 2019 — The Philippine Consulate General in Los Angeles joined around 1,200 Bicolanos in Southern California in celebrating the 45th annual Peñafrancia Fiesta at Lincoln Park in Los Angeles on 21 September 2019.

The Festival is organized annually by United Bicolandia Los Angeles (UBLA) to celebrate the feast day of Bicol Region’s Patroness, the Blessed Virgin of Peñafrancia.

Deputy Consul General Ambrosio Brian F. Enciso III, together with other Consulate General officers, attended the event with their families.

The highlight of the festival was a fluvial parade, featuring yellow-shirted voyadores carrying the image of the Patron Saint aboard a floral barge towed by boats around the Park’s man-made lake. The fluvial procession was accompanied by a procession along the Lake’s perimeter. A concelebrated mass presided by Rev. Fr. Rolando Clarin followed the procession.

Twenty-four well-decorated booths from other local Bicol support organizations served signature Bicolano dishes such as kinunot, laing, and bicol express, among other treats.

The whole-day celebration drew thousands of devotees and guests. The annual Peñafrancia Fiesta has always been one of the largest and most colorful festivities of the Filipino-American community in Southern California.  END
