LOS ANGELES 12 October 2019 – Film Development Council of the Philippines’ (FDCP) Chair Liza Diño called on Consul General Adelio Angelito S. Cruz on 30 September 2019.
Arranged by the Department of Foreign Affairs’ Office of Strategic Communications and Research-Cultural Diplomacy Division, the meeting aims to prepare the campaign for the film Verdict as Philippines’ official entry to the 92nd Academy Awards under the Best International Feature Film category.
The film, directed by Raymund Ribay Gutierrez and produced by award-winning film-maker, Brillante Mendoza, has won the Special Orizzonti Jury Prize at the recently-concluded 76th Venice International Film Festival held in August 2019.
During the meeting, Chair Diño also informed the Consulate General of FDCP’s Film Location Incentive Programs, which aim to entice foreign production outfits to film in the Philippines and/or invest in Filipino film projects.
Consul General Cruz assured his support for this cause. He offered the Consulate General’s assistance should the FDCP decide to organize a roadshow to promote the Philippine film industry in the United States. END
