PH Consulate General in Houston Celebrates Decade of PH American Chamber of Commerce of Texas

HOUSTON 04 November 2019 — The Philippine Consulate General in Houston attended the Philippine American Chamber of Commerce of Texas’ (PACCTX) 2019 State Dinner in celebration of its 10th founding anniversary with the theme “Celebrating Excellence, Filipinos in Texas” on 18 October 2019 at the Dallas/Addison Marriott Quorum in Dallas, Texas.

Consul General Santos commended PACCTX for its continuing service to the Filipino-American community in Texas and acknowledged the ten long years of collaboration between them and the Philippine government. “I encourage PACCTX to forge on and continue with its laudable dual mission. PACCTX is poised to reach its full potential on not only bridging economic relations between Philippine and US businesses but also providing immediate assistance back home,” Consul General Santos said.

Also present during the gala were city officials led by Deputy Mayor Pro Tempore Lori Ward, representatives from other Filipino American organizations such as the Coalition of Filipino American Chambers of Commerce President Gerry Palon. Consul General Santos who was accompanied by Consul Gilbert L. Segarra, and Cultural Officer Mary Jane Mariano of the Philippine Consulate General in Houston who was with Honorary Consul Ethel Mercado of Philippine Consulate in Dallas and Founding President of PACCTX.

As the organization looked back to its decade-long history, PACCTX also gave the following awards to Filipino-American community members in recognition of their achievements: as outstanding entrepreneurs and professionals, humanitarians, public servants, and young leaders. The event gathered in one place around 400 members and guests of PACCTX chapters in Greater Dallas – Fort Worth Region, Greater Houston Region, Rio Grande Valley Region, and Central Texas Region led by PACCTX State President Gary Ilagan.
