PH Embassy in Rome Holds Consular Outreach, Drug Awareness Seminar in Bari

ROME 20 November 2019 — As part of its annual program to provide consular and other services to Filipinos under its jurisdiction, the Philippine Embassy in Rome organized a consular outreach mission in Bari, Italy on 26 to 27 October 2019.
The Embassy consular team rendered a total of 1,027 services, including 328 passport applications, 20 Reports of Birth, one Report of Marriage, 89 notarized documents, and seven certificates. Seven individuals took the Oath of Allegiance to the Philippine Republic for retention of Philippine citizenship.
The Embassy’s partner agencies also had their significant share of clients. The Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO) and Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) served 95 and 175 clients, respectively. On the other hand, Social Security System (SSS) catered to 187 clients while Pag-IBIG assisted 118 clients.
The Embassy also held a Drug Awareness Seminar during the outreach mission as part of its Assistance-to-Nationals program. Bari Police Judiciary Officer Pistone Pierfranco served as the resource speaker for the seminar. He emphasized the strong link between drug use and road accidents and the threat that illegal drugs cause to community and family security. He also advised the youth to be vigilant in going to social places where recreational drugs are discreetly distributed. The Embassy meanwhile provided tips to avoid committing illegal drug possession or trafficking offenses.
The mission was held at Bari’s local police headquarters. Bari, the capital of Puglia region, is home to an estimated 1,656 Filipinos. END
