PH Embassy in Jakarta Conducts Polio Health Talk

JAKARTA 26 November 2019 — The Philippine Embassy in Jakarta, in collaboration with RS Abdi Waluyo Hospital, conducted a Polio Health Talk on 09 November 2019 at the Multi-Purpose Hall of the Philippine Embassy in Jakarta, Indonesia.
Resource speaker Dr. Erni Juwita Nelwan, a renowned Indonesian expert on tropical and infectious diseases, discussed Polio disease, its causes, symptoms, and prevention. She stressed the importance of proper hygiene practices and polio vaccination. The event was attended by around 50 Filipinos and other participants.
Dr. Nelwan also answered the questions of participants about vaccination, its availability, usual procedures and safety. Dr. Nelwan advised the participants that polio vaccination is generally safe and vaccination is available by appointment with a doctor.
The event is part of the Philippine Embassy’s Consular and Gender and Development (GAD) program and was organized to address the concern of Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) and other Filipinos in Indonesia about the reported cases of polio in the Philippines. END
