JEDDAH 26 November 2019 — Following the ocular inspection of Philippine schools in Jeddah and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on 21 to 30 October 2019 by the Department of Education (DepEd) and Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO), the Philippine Consulate in Jeddah met with the Board of Trustees (BOT) of the International Philippine School in Jeddah (IPSJ) to discuss how the school can address the findings of CFO and DepEd with a view of maintaining its status as one of the premier Filipino overseas schools in Jeddah and the whole Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA).
IPSJ is the largest and oldest existing international Philippine school in the world with over 1,500 Filipino students.
During the meeting, Philippine Consul General to Jeddah Edgar B. Badajos said that as the one who oversees the Filipinos in Jeddah and the Western Region in KSA, the Consulate considers it its moral obligation to assist Filipino institutions and individuals to better their conditions in the Kingdom.
The CFO and DepEd inspection is part of the Philippine government’s mandate to ensure that Philippine schools overseas comply with the regulatory and documentary requirements of both the DepEd and the Ministry of Education of Saudi Arabia, while ensuring that they provide education that meets Philippine and international standards.
