Foreign Affairs Undersecretary Delivers Well-Received Lecture at SOAS University of London

Foreign Affairs Undersecretary for Policy Enrique A. Manalo was a guest lecturer at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) University of London, the leading higher education institution in Europe specializing in the study of Asia, Africa, and the Near and Middle East on 15 November 2019.

 At the lecture, Undersecretary Manalo shared his insights on current Philippine foreign policy in relation to the ASEAN, particularly Philippine priorities under the three ASEAN Community pillars and their Sectoral Bodies, and other ASEAN-led mechanisms in his presentation entitled, “The Philippines in ASEAN: Past, Present and Prospects.” He also touched on regional security issues of common concern to the region and ASEAN’s perspective on these issues. The open forum of the lecture extended into an informal conversation at the third floor lobby of the Brunei Gallery, with students enthusiastically seeking the Undersecretary’s views on topics such as the West Philippine Sea and ASEAN’s relations with China. (London PE photo)
