PH Consul General to Chicago, Nebraska Congressman Greet Fil-Ams at Omaha Event

CHICAGO 04 December 2019 — Congressman Don Bacon (Republican Party representative – second district, Nebraska) graced the Filipino Heritage Foundation’s first annual Membership Appreciation Night held at the Sheraton Omaha Hotel, Omaha City on 26 October 2019.

Congresman Bacon, now on his second term, delivered remarks thanking the Filipinos in Nebraska for their important contributions to the United States of America (USA).

Philippine Consul General to Chicago Gina A. Jamoralin was also present during the event to deliver the keynote speech. The event coincided with the celebration of the Filipino-American History Month in October in USA.

Consul General Jamoralin thanked the Filipino Heritage Foundation (FHF) led by its president, Ana Peery, for partnering with the Philippine Consulate General in Chicago in organizing the Philippine Consular Outreach in Omaha, Nebraska in May this year.

Congressman Bacon, Consul General Jamoralin and Ms. Peery distributed certificates of appreciation to FHF members and volunteers for their assistance during the last Philippine Consular Outreach.

In her keynote remarks, Consul General Jamoralin expressed appreciation for the important role played by Congressman Bacon in the US Congress in the return the Balangiga Bell to its rightful home in Balangiga, Eastern Samar, Philippines.

The office of Congressman Bacon will partner with the FHP and the Philippine Consulate General in Chicago to organize a post-arrival orientation seminar (PAOS) for Filipinos –  the first in the state of Nebraska next year to raise awareness among the newly-arrived Filipinos of the various services offered by the US Federal and State agencies for immigrant communities as well as to encourage these Filipino immigrants join existing Filipino-American community organizations.
