BRAZIL 04 December 2019 – The Philippine Embassy in Brazil officially launched “Dive Philippines,” a special tourism promotional exhibit held from 22 to 24 November 2019 at Pátio Brasil, a premier shopping mall in Brasilia.
Ambassador to Brazil Marichu Mauro made the official announcement in a press briefing held at Rubaiyat Brasilia Restaurant on 8 November 2019.
“Why come to the Philippines to dive?,” Ambassador Mauro asked the press and tour operators present at the briefing. “Because we have amazing underwater dive sites full of healthy coral reefs, rare marine life, seascapes, sunken wrecks, and much more. The Philippines is a wonderful combination of ocean diversity. Our many islands and large landmasses provide an amazing array of habitats under the sea that attract some of the most unusual and sought-after creatures in the world…We may be at the other side of the planet, but the Philippines offers so much to divers and non-divers alike. We have first class facilities and amenities available in a wide choice of special destinations coupled with the exceptional quality of service and extraordinary hospitality of the Filipino people which makes for a sublime experience for every visitor,” Ambassador Mauro said.
After the Philippines was recognized for the first time as Asia’s Leading Dive destination by the World Travel Awards, “Dive Philippines” is the Philippine Embassy’s contribution to the initiative of the Philippine Department of Tourism (DOT) in promoting dive tourism which has been identified as a key area in the National Tourism Development Plan.
Located at the ground floor entrance of Pátio Brasil, the visitors to Dive Philippines had the unique opportunity to experience what it’s like to dive in the Philippines in Virtual Reality using Oculus goggles. There was also a special photo exhibit that showcased the amazing array of the most unusual and sought-after creatures in the world that inhabit Philippine waters. “Dive Philippines” aims to raise awareness of the Philippines as a diving haven to Brazilians and other South Americans.
