Global Pact on Mercury to Help PH Protect Human Health, Environment

The Minamata Convention, named after a Japanese city that experienced the devastating effects of mercury poisoning in the last century, is a global treaty that seeks to protect the environment and safeguard human health through measures such as the control, regulation, and eventual phase-out of the use of mercury in industries like gold mining.
