PH Consul General to Chicago Welcomes New Thai Counterpart

CHICAGO 09 December 2019 — Philippine Consul General to Chicago Gina A. Jamoralin welcomed new Thai Consul General to Chicago Pisanu Sobhon to Chicago during the latter’s call at the Kalayaan Hall of the Philippine Consulate General on 27 November 2019.
Consul General Sobhon is a career diplomat who had previously completed tours of duty in Hanoi, Tokyo, and Pretoria. Prior to his assignment in Chicago, he served as minister-counsellor at the Department of American and South Pacific Affairs, and as Director of the Peace, Security, and Disarmament Division at the Department of International Organizations at the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Consul General Jamoralin and Consul General Sobhon who is in charge of 14 Midwest states and accompanied by Deputy Consul General to Chicago Siriporn Tantipanyathep, discussed a wide range of topics, including economic diplomacy efforts in the Midwest, the Asia Cooperation Dialogue, Thailand’s recent hosting of ASEAN 2019 meetings, geopolitical realities, and activities of the Chicago Consular Corps (CCC) and Chicago International Trade Commissioners’ Association (CITCA).
