03 April 2014 - The Philippine Embassy in Vienna celebrated the 28th Anniversary of the EDSA People Power Revolution of 1986 with the Filipino community in Vienna on two separate occasions.
Chargé d’Affaires (CDA) Charlie P. Manangan addressed the Filipino community during the Sunday Mass on February 23 at Pfarre Maria vom Berge Karmel (Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish) officiated by Rev. Fr. Ely Dalanon, Chaplain of the Filipino Catholic community in Vienna.
The message of CDA Manangan focused on this year’s theme “Kapit-bisig Tungo sa Pagbangon". The theme speaks of the importance of every Filipino’s contribution to be an agent of change and a force for good in the country. It also aims to remember the spirit of EDSA and to remind everybody that it happened peacefully in the Philippines and the world recognized it.
On February 25, a Mass was held at the Philippine Embassy and officiated by Rev. Fr. Ron Sandoval, SVD, of the Philippinische Gottesdienst Geminde. The Embassy personnel led by CDA Manangan and leaders and some members of the Filipino-Austrian community in Vienna participated in the Mass.
During the Mass, CDA Manangan read the message of President Benigno S. Aquino III in the celebration of the 28th anniversary of EDSA 1986.
A simple salu-salo breakfast was served after the Mass. END
