SAN FRANCISCO 11 December 2019 — Philippine Consul General to San Francisco Henry S. Bensurto Jr., accompanied by Consul Jed Llona and Trade Commissioner Celynne Layug, met with X (formerly known as “Google X”) Project Development Manager Jennifer Bahk at the company’s headquarters in Mountain View, CA, on 19 November 2019.
X was founded in 2010 as “Google X” as top-secret laboratory that focused on long-term innovations that were outside of Google’s core functions. X now serves as Google’s research and development laboratory that comes up with experimental technologies. It is known as Google’s “moonshot” factory, as it aims to provide solutions to answer big problems. A number of X’s projects are highlighted in the company’s website: x.company/projects
Consul General Bensurto informed Bahk of the possibility of X conducting various stages of project development, including prototyping and testing, in the Philippines, especially with the growth of the country’s facilities for science and technology. END
