PH Consul General Joins Cagayan Valley Chicago Recognition Night

CHICAGO 13 December 2019 – Philippine Consul General to Chicago Gina A. Jamoralin graced the Cagayan Valley Chicago (CVC) Recognition Night held at the Four Points Sheraton in Irving Park Road, Schiller Park, Illinois on 22 November 2019.
Starteing her speech Ilokano, “Naimbag nga rabii!” which in English means “Good evening,” Consul General Jamoralin encourage CVC to teach their young generation to learn their native Ilocano language. She narrated that when she served as Consul General in Hawaii, she initiated the Ilokano Language Acquisition and Immersion for the New Generation (iLAING), with the goal of empowering young Filipinos in Hawaii to study the Ilocano language and get the chance to travel to the Philippines especially the Ilocos Region.
The Consul General also invited the Filipino-American community to join the Very Important Pinoy Tour on July 19-26, 2020 with tentative destinations of Manila, Iloilo and Boracay. She also encouraged all Filipinos and dual citizens to register for the upcoming overseas absentee voting registration starting in December 2019 and to exercise their right to vote in May 2022.
CVC, which is the umbrella organization of Cagayanons from the provinces of Cagayan, Isabela, Nueva Vizcaya and Quirino, has been reaching out to Cagayanons in the home country with donations to public elementary schools. END
