PH Consulate General in Toronto Meets with Community Settlement Organizations

TORONTO 13 December 2019 — Consul General to Toronto Orontes V. Castro and officials of Philippine Consulate General in Toronto, Philippine Overseas Labor Office and Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) Toronto met with officials of Community Settlement Organizations (CSOs) and their colleagues in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) on 22 November 2019.
The meeting discussed issues facing Overseas Filipinos (OFs) in the GTA and the services that are available for them that are given by respective government agencies and non-government organizations (NGOs).
Consul General Castro plans to continue mapping operations of OFs in the jurisdiction of Philippine Consulate General in Toronto in view of the arrival of new immigrations, temporary workers and students in the provinces of Ontario and Manitoba. He also requested assistance from the CSOs in determining the locations of government agencies whose services can be tapped by OFs.
The Philippine Consulate General in Toronto also plans to conduct a survey among OFs to find out other concerns they have and enable the Consulate to plan out activities and programs to improve further their services to OFs, especially new arrivals and their families. END
