Zubiri Lead Parliamentary Visit to Budapest

BUDAPEST 13 December 2019 — Members of the newly-constituted Philippines-Hungary Parliamentary Friendship Association led by President of the Philippines-Hungary Parliamentary Friendship Association Senator Juan Miguel Zubiri, visited Budapest on 15 to 17 October 2019 to meet with their counterparts from the Hungarian National Assembly.
Senator Zubiri was joined by Senate President Pro-Tempore Ralph G. Recto, Senator Juan Edgardo M. Angara, Senator Maria Lourdes Nancy S. Binay, Senator Sherwin T. Gatchalian, Senator Joel Villanueva, Senator Imee Romualdez Marcos, and Senator Ronald M. dela Rosa.
The delegation met with Chairman of the Hungary-Philippines Parliamentary Friendship Group Zsolt Csenger-Zalán, and with Deputy Speaker István Jakab of the National Assembly of Hungary, as well as with Minister of State for Security Policy Péter Sztáray. They noted with mutual satisfaction the ever growing and stronger ties between the Philippines and Hungary, especially after the re-opening of the Hungarian Embassy in Manila in 2017.
Both parties agreed that there are many more of cooperation between the two countries in the fields of trade and investment, agricultural technology transfer, water management, education exchanges, sports, tourism and culture.
Senator Zubiri invited the Hungarian officials to visit the Philippines. He emphasized that the Philippines considers Hungary as a true friend and an ally. END
