PH Ambassador to South Africa Receives Russian Counterpart

PRETORIA 13 December 2019 — To discuss on developments in the host country, the Southern African region, as well as Philippines-Russia bilateral relations, Philippine Ambassador to South Africa and Dean of the Asian Heads of Missions Group Joseph Gerard B. Angeles received Russian Ambassador to South Africa Ilya Igorevich Rogachev during a courtesy call on 31 October 2019.

On bilateral ties between the Philippines and Russia, both Ambassadors agreed that the partnership is ushering into an exciting phase as seen by the dramatic increase in bilateral activities across many areas of cooperation.

For his part, Ambassador Angeles emphasized that the Philippines’ foreign policy thrust, under the administration of President Rodrigo R. Duterte, to forge stronger ties with non-traditional allies served as a catalyst for the remarkable progress in the two countries’ relations.

The meeting ended on a positive note, with both Ambassadors agreeing to maintain an open line of communication as well as work closely in areas of mutual interest. END
