PH Conducts Training on Food Processing in Port Vila, Vanuatu

VANUATU 16 December 2019 –– In line with South-South Cooperation, the Technical Cooperation Council of the Philippines (TCCP) of the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) provided technical assistance to the Government of Vanuatu through the conduct of a Training on Food Processing held in Port Vila on 19-22 November 2019. 

The successful implementation of the training could be credited to the support and assistance of the Philippine Embassy in Canberra and the Philippine Honorary Consulate in Port Vila in coordination with the Vanuatu Department of Industry (DOI) under the Ministry of Tourism, Trade, Industry, Commerce and Ni-Vanuatu Business.

With the training, the Ni-Vanuatuans learned new food processing skills imparted by the Department of Science and Technology – Industrial Technology Development Institute, Science and Research Specialists, the Philippine agency charge to facilitate the training on Production of Intermediate Raw Materials from Coconut, Tomato, Root Crops and Fish Processing.

It was  attended by 22 participants and 20 observers identified both by the Government of Vanuatu Office of the Deputy Prime Minister and the DOI under the Ministry of Tourism, Trade, Industry, Commerce and Ni-Vanuatu Business.

The occasion was graced by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Tourism, Commerce, Trade Industry and Ni-Vanuatu Business Jotham Napat, Director Jimmy Rantes of DOI, Mr. Jack Loughman, General Manager of the Vanuatu Cooperative Business Network (VCBN) and Philippine Honorary Consul Florentino “Bong” Serrano.
