Ambassador to Kenya Presents his Credentials to Rwandan President

NAIROBI 18 December 2019 – Ambassador to Kenya Alex G. Chua presented his credentials to His Excellency President Paul Kagame of the Republic of Rwanda on 15 November 2019, at the Urugwiro Village - The Office of the President in Kigali, Rwanda.
Ambassador Chua conveyed the warm felicitations of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte and the people of the Republic of the Philippines to President Kagame and the people of the Republic of Rwanda.
Ambassador Chua added that both President Duterte and President Kagame share a similar vision for a progressive and prosperous country for their people, as well as a common commitment to democracy, social justice, development and progress.
President Kagame opened with a statement that “Rwanda and the Philippines may be far apart, but the Philippines is close to the hearts of Rwandans through inter-marriages”. He elaborated that a close member of his own staff has recently married a Filipina.
President Kagame closed with an expressed hope that during Ambassador Chua’s mandate bilateral relations between the two countries could be further enhanced, especially in trade and investment, as well as increased people to people exchanges.
Ambassador Chua was accompanied by his spouse, Madame Marie Marla Chua and Cultural Officer Hossana P. Dela Cruz while President Kagame was attended by Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Dr. Vincent Biruta.
The hallmarks of President Kagame’s administration are peace and reconciliation, women’s empowerment, promotion of investment and entrepreneurship, and access to information technology, a cause he also champions as Co-Chair of the Broadband Commission for Sustainable Development.
As Chairperson of the African Union until February 2019, President Kagame promoted the Single African Air Transport Market (SAATM) and the African Continental Free Trade Area, and has been leading the institutional reform of the African Union since 2016. He is currently the Chairperson of the East African Community (EAC). END
