BERLIN 18 December 2019 - The Philippine Embassy in Berlin rendered consular services, including passport renewal, civil registry, and one-on-one consultations during its first-ever consular mission in Göttingen on 09 November 2019.

After the consular outreach, a town-hall meeting took place wherein Embassy’s Vice Consul Marie Cris Chieng shared with the community updates about the Embassy, including the recent establishment of the Philippine Overseas Labor Office in Berlin, and the opening of the Philippine Consulate General in Frankfurt and Main earlier this year.

Less than three months ago, the community welcomed the arrival of eight Filipino nurses in Gottingen and their numbers are expected to increase early next year. Vice Consul Chieng gave the newly-arrived nurses a short briefing on workplace culture and life in Germany to help them understand and adjust better in their new environment.

The consular outreach mission and town-hall meeting was successful with the cooperation of Rudy and Nelly Lacambacal, long-time Filipino migrants in Göttingen.

Located about 4 and a half hours from Berlin, the City of Göttingen is a university town which also hosts a number of Filipino students. The City of Göttingen is easily accessible to some cities already belonging to the State of Hesse, such as Kassel, as well as to Hannover, the capital of the State of Lower Saxony. Approximately 1,620 Filipinos reside in the State of Lower Saxony. END
