PH Embassy in Nairobi Supports Exhibition Of African Art at Hekima University

NAIROBI 18 December 2019 — In line with the Philippine Embassy in Nairobi’s approach to engage educational institutions that shall advance culture and the arts, the Philippine Embassy in Nairobi supported the Exhibition of African Art organized by the Hekima University on 10 November 2019.

Philippine Ambassador to Kenya Alex G. Chua said, “Art mirrors the soul of not only its artist but also the soul of its country, tradition and history. Each work of art evokes compelling emotions from viewers as each piece conveys a unique story from the point of view of the artist which chronicles his circumstances.”

The Exhibit curator Bose Fagbemi proudly detailed the significance of certain paintings which depict history, struggle, and empowerment of African countries and its effect on the artists and their art.

The Exhibit offered a great chance to view the diversity and dynamism of African Art through the work of 16 African Artist from different countries in Africa including Benin, Kenya, and Nigeria. END
